Invigilation good practice

Schools have adopted a range of strategies in order to meet the requirements of the national agreement on invigilation. The workforce agreement monitoring group (WAMG) has already heard of many examples of good practice. As schools embrace the wider cultural change embodied within the agreement, and apply their experiences of implementing the previous phases of contractual changes, they are notably becoming ever more adept at implementing strategies which will tackle the aims of the agreement.

Consulting on change

Schools that have engaged with remodelling are employing the change management process and their school change teams in order to devise and implement revised invigilation procedures. Schools that have yet to participate in remodelling training are developing revised invigilation procedures through their existing structures and procedures.

The WAMG invigilation resource pack provides detailed guidance on good practice with regard to the steps that schools should take before implementation, during implementation and for an ongoing review process of their implementation arrangements.

The transfer of invigilation duties to a cadre of trained and paid invigilators recognises that effective invigilation is an essential part of an efficient and effective examinations system.
